SMOOTH PARAMETRIC SURFACES AND n-SIDED PATCHES
The theory of 'geometric continuity' within the subject of CAGD is reviewed. In particular, we are concerned with how parametric surface patches for CAGD can be pieced together to form a smooth C surface. The theory is applied to the problem of filling an n-sided hole occurring within a smooth rectangular patch complex. A number of solutions to this problem are surveyed.
متن کاملPattern-Based Quadrangulation for N-Sided Patches
We propose an algorithm to quadrangulate an N-sided patch (2 ≤ N ≤ 6) with prescribed numbers of edge subdivisions at its boundary. Our algorithm is guaranteed to succeed for arbitrary valid input, which is proved using a canonical simplification of the input and a small set of topological patterns that are sufficient for supporting all possible cases. Our algorithm produces solutions with mini...
متن کاملRobust Tesselation of Trimmed Rational B-Spline Surface Patches
We present an unstructured triangular mesh generation algorithm that approximates a set of mutually non-intersecting simple trimmed rational B-spline surface patches within a user speciied geometric tolerance. The proposed method uses numerically robust interval geometric representations/computations and also addresses the problem of topological consistency (homeomorphism) between the exact geo...
متن کاملB-spline Patches Fitting on Surfaces and Triangular Meshes
In this paper a technique for the construction of quartic polynomial B-spline patches fitting on analytical surfaces and triangle meshes is presented. The input data are curvature values and principal directions at a given surface point which can be computed directly, if the surface is represented by a vector function. In the case of discrete surface representation, i.e. on a triangle mesh the ...
